How HVAC Contractors Without a Storefront Win on Google

One of the most common frustrations for small HVAC contractors is Google Business Profile — which seems designed for businesses with physical storefronts. Here is the truth and the solution.

Service-Area Businesses Are Fully Supported

Google explicitly supports businesses that travel to customers. HVAC contractors, plumbers, and electricians all qualify as service-area businesses.

Setting Up Your SAB Profile

When creating your profile: select I deliver goods and services to my customers and choose to hide your address. Then specify your service area by city, county, or ZIP code.

Verification Options

Google offers phone, email, video, and postcard verification. Video verification — showing yourself, your truck, and business materials — is increasingly available without requiring a commercial address.

What Drives Local Rankings

Complete business description, service list, photos of completed work, regular posts, and most importantly genuine 5-star reviews from real customers.

The Review Strategy

Ask every satisfied customer for a Google review immediately after the job. Send a direct review link via WhatsApp while still at the property. Ten genuine reviews outperform a perfect profile with zero reviews.
